Fibre Mat
These
mats are manufactured by insertion of tufts of coir fibre in the base fabric.
The fibre mats have a very compact brush firmly held by the base fabric
and therefore these mats are very durable. Fibre mats are products
of skill and deft craftsmanship. In addition to Natural and Printed
mats, they are also available custom made with woven letters, monograms
and emblems. The printed mats can be either in vegetable dyes or
the new non-fading oil based pigments. The designs are bevelled to
give clarity. The special technique by which they are made enables
incorporation of even complicated designs. The fibre mats are available
in standard oblong and hal-oval sizes and also in special sizes according
to the taste of the consumer.

Coir Matting
Coir mattings
are usually manufactured from four principal types of coir yarn - SUPERIOR
ANJENGO, SUPERIOR ARATORY, VYCOME and BEACH. These are either hand-woven
or made on power looms.
Coir mattings
are available in a wide range of attractive, woven and printed designs,
patterns and shades as well as in plain natural colour. They can
be supplied as Rugs by cutting into desired lengths and ends stitched with
cotton or jacquard webbing. In weaving fancy matting it is customary
to use a limited number of aloe, sisal or jute strands in both the warp
and weft to pick out the pattern.
Coir matting
made on the traditional hand looms reflect the skill of craftsmen in their
weaves and finish. The order of interlacement of warp and weft yarns
to form the mattings varies with quality and pattern. In addition
to natural colour, solid shades, bleached and jaspe mattings and a wide
range of attractive woven and printed designs are available. Coir
matting are mainly used as floor coverings, runners or for furnishing stairs,
corridors and Wall to wall carpeting etc. The coir mattings
and rugs are available in all dimensions with Latex rubber foam backing.
The
standard length of a roll of coir matting is 50 yards or 45 metres.
Widths vary from 18 inches to 13 ft. in rolls. Wide width mattings
up to 4 metres are supplied in standard lengths of 25, 30 & 40 mtrs

Design gallery
Two-treadle
plain weave: The warp and weft yarns interlace one
over and one under alternately and continuously. Both sides present
the same appearance and the matting is therefore reversible.
Two-treadle
basket weave: The warp and the weft yarns move in
doubles or more.
Three-treadle
weave: A twill or herringbone effect is formed on
the one side where the warp yarn dominates.
Four-treadle
weave: A wide range of attractive woven designs are
formed on both sides of the matting.
Multi-shaft
weave: Patterns and designs beyond the capacity of
four shaft looms are made on multishaft arrangement. More complicated
patterns are made using Dobby / Jacquard attachments.
Latex
foam backing: Coir mattings finished with latex backing
prevent the penetration of dust and facilitate cutting to any shape.
The mattings, when vacuum cleaned periodically will help it remain as good
as new.
